Daniel Zalewski

Daniel Zalewski lives in Södertälje, south of Stockholm. He discovered art early in life through drawing. In addition to art class, he was given the opportunity to be an apprentice for a local artist. There his interest grew and Daniel formed a dedication. After high school he studied animation and painting.

Process
His process varies depending on what he wants to express. It can be a feeling, a link, a specific
style or just an exploration of impulses and ideas. Daniel works simultaneously with several works and dive into his own imagination where he set his own rules and limits for what is possible. He carefully documents the result in order to review and keep a catalogue of all works. It also makes it possible to see the creation from a larger perspective.

Works
The work of Daniel has a colourful, abstract feel, both figurative and non-figurative. Painting is his main medium but he is also interested in sculpture, sound, photography and video. To be able to create freely is a huge privilege and he tries to make the most of it. Daniel loves showing his work publicly as he can observe a reaction and take part of criticism from the observer. He works as a sales clerk in a store for art supplies and he spend his free time in his studio working on projects.

Goals
His foundation is the urge to create. It connects him to the present. He wants to create works which makes somebody pause from their everyday routine and puzzle, those who think they've seen everything. Daniel makes art so he can inspire and affect people to be more creative in their lives.
